Busy Time of the Year
May 14, 2024
Where has the school year gone? It is hard to believe that we are finishing up the 2023-2024 school year. Our staff and students have had a very busy year, but I believe that the months of March, April and May are the busiest months of the school year. With the arrival of spring, came many activities. Our students are involved in track, golf, eSports, Speech and quiz bowl. Vocal and instrumental music students spend many hours preparing for district competition where both groups had great performances as well as putting on numerous concerts to wrap up the year. Congratulations to Olive Sabey-Vogele who was named Southern’s Artist of the Year. The Junior class spent countless hours preparing for the Junior/Senior Prom. Thank you to the Juniors and their sponsors, Mrs. Mick and Miss. Hulse for your hard work. As always, prom was a huge success. The Southern Scholastic banquet was held on March 26 and students were recognized for their academic success. Congratulations to those students who were inducted into the Southern Chapter of the National Honor Society. Southern honored 75 students for their hard work in and out of the classroom during our Honors Night program that was held on April 30. Student athletes were recognized on May 7 during the athletic banquet that is sponsored by the Southern Sports Boosters. Thank you to the Sports Boosters for your generous donations and the hard work you put in organizing the banquet. Congratulations to Bladen Weiner and Addison Young on being named the Raider Student Athlete of the Year. The very important state testing has been completed and we are confident that our students performed well on all of them. On May 11, we said goodbye to 28 graduating seniors that will be starting the next journey of their lives. Good luck to all of our graduates. As you can see, the students and staff at Southern have been extremely busy and we are proud of all the accomplishments of our students.
HAVE A GREAT SUMMER. #RaiderPride
